Description

This rope workshop will be a hand-on class with active participation and rope tying. We will start by establishing aesthetic guidelines and principles for our ties as an overarching theme of the intermediate series. We will focus on a) modular tying, b) intentionality, c) nawajiri management, and d) philosophy of minimalism, model-centric photography, and wabi-sabi aesthetics. The Crab Tie class will include explicit instruction on:

  • Managing reverse tensions

  • Managing kannukis / cinches

The main principle we will focus on is managing nawajiri effectively with intentionality. We will be tying similar shapes with various lengths of rope.

Prerequisites: Single column, experience with basic chest harness, basic understandings of tension and rope placement.

Requirements:  at least 4 hanks of rope at different lengths. ~30, ~20, ~15, ~12.
