We will briefly analyze the methodology of sensual rope bondage highlighting rope bondage as a erotic process rather than a simple means to an end. To begin\, we will summarize 4 elements of sensual rope bondage: Set up\, Intent\, Connection\, Unravel. Following\, we will focus on 4 rope handling skills for increasing tension\, flow\, and intimate connection with your partner/s.  At the end we will have the skills to tie both a fisherman’s harness and a spiral futomomo.

SUMMARY:Flying in Rope: a First Suspension Series
DESCRIPTION:This 3-part series is designed for tying pairs who have played with partial suspension and wish to experience full flight in a risk-aware environment. Tying pairs will explore multiple suspension positions\, put familiar harnesses and patterns under full load\, practice moving in and out of static poses\, and learn how to adapt ties to prolong “flying time”. Those tying will learn how to control and assess how load is distributed across multiple uplines\, predict when and where harnesses deform\, and solve basic challenges as they arise. Those being tied will learn how to communicate effectively while in suspension\, begin to calibrate to their endurance in a variety of ties and positions\, and identify early signs of nerve impingement or injury. \nIn order to benefit from this class\, those tying should be able to rig suspension uplines using both top and bottom locks-offs as well as have previously practiced a simple partial suspension under supervision. Those being tied should have previous experience in a partial suspension and possess some basic familiarity with sensations related to circulation loss and nerve/injury signals. \nThese classes are crafted for partnered learning; attendees need to sign up in pairs. All tying pairs must commit to all classes in the series. \nWe encourage those who have completed the Ascent in Rope curriculum to register. Attendees can attend solo or as a couple. \nHosted out of a circus school\, this class is ideal for folks that want to explore shibari in a non-kink environment.

DESCRIPTION:Come hang with us at Rope Lab! This is a casual exploration into the basics of shibari and eastern rope bondage. Each session we will begin by covering the basic single column tie which is the foundation of all that we do\, and then we will explore other ties that build on that. \nDoors open at 6:30 and class will begin at 7:00 sharp. Please be sure to be on time. \nPlease come in comfortable clothes that allow for a wide range of movement. Two or three pieces of 6mm rope 24-30 ft in length will be used in each session. Mats are provided\, but a blanket is nice to place over them.\nThe ties we will focus on are best done with natural fiber rope. Jute or hemp are the preferred options.\nWe have loaner rope if you need to borrow and will usually have some on hand for sale should you want to take some home to practice.

SUMMARY:Intro to Suspension Rope Bondage
DESCRIPTION:This weekend intensive provides an introduction to suspension for rope practitioners with established floor-tying skills who are not yet suspending. \nParticipants will learn suspension safety\, uplines\, a versatile suspension chest harness (the Butterfly Harness)\, and several foundational suspension positions. Through guided instruction and practice\, students will build the technical skills and confidence needed to begin suspending safely and intentionally. \nBy the end of the series\, participants will have the knowledge and practical experience necessary to safely lift their partner off the ground and continue their suspension journey with a strong foundation. \nThis track is designed for tying pairs\, with one participant serving as the primary roper. Prerequisite skills include familiarity with basic rope handling\, simple knots\, hitches and frictions\, single-column ties\, and basic chest harnesses. Prior suspension experience is not required. This class is limited to 5 tying pairs.
