SUMMARY:Working with Size Differentials: Tips and Tricks for Smaller Riggers
DESCRIPTION:Do you feel like you have t-rex arms and struggle to get rope smoothly around your partner while tying? Or have you struggled to get your partner up in a suspension? In this class\, we’ll work on strategies for tying around a body when you can’t reach around or above your partner. We’ll also work on strategies for getting someone that outweighs you off the ground and talk about the pros and cons of using different types of gear for support. \nTickets will be sold in tying pairs. Previous experience tying with your partner before the class is highly recommended.

SUMMARY:Speed Tying Social
DESCRIPTION:Tops\, bottoms\, and switches will get hands-on rope practice through bite-sized sessions with each other. There is no “dating” here\, but you will meet\, tie\, and be tied. People are encouraged to attend solo\, as this is an opportunity to mix and mingle. \nPlease arrive on time in order to fully participate in all activities:\n5pm: check-in & rules\n5:15-5:45pm: socializing & “speed meeting” rounds\n5:45-6pm: break\n6-7:45pm: speed tying rounds\n7:45-8pm : wrap up & tidy space \nFolks tying: bring your favorite upper body\, lower body\, and decorative harnesses out to play. You will get to tie them on different body types and shapes\, practice creativity and adaptation\, receive feedback\, and test your rope handling skills. You’ll have eight minutes to tie and untie each round\, though this precise timing may vary. \nFolks being tied: experience rope\, practice negotiating\, and compare how different patterns feel on your body. You are encouraged to share preferences or physical limitations to see how different people tying adapt their structures. \nThis is an opportunity to explore what rope can offer. To fully participate in this class\, you need to be comfortable tying and being tied by different types of people. This is a learning and practicing environment. Please respect the goals of the event by not pressuring or asking people to play\, or solicit “rope rides”\, outside of this activity.

SUMMARY:Chair Bondage
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will start with a 30 minute lecture on the historical context and origins of homoerotic cowboy rope bondage. We will discuss anti-LGBTQ+ laws and homophobic tendencies throughout Cowboy Country in the end of the 20th century/beginning of the 21st century primarily focusing on Texas and Wyoming. We will analyze the origins and development of the porn site guysinbondage.com circa 2003 and social media posts of its founder @tie.me_tight who passed away in 2021. We will conclude with a discussion over sexual agency and homophobic cooping mechanisms via the constructs of hypermasculinity\, anonymity\, and the perception of nonconsent/rape fantasy imbedded in this subculture of the gay community and western rope bondage. \nFollowing the lecture will be a 30-minute practical demonstration of the technical skills found in cowboy rope bondage specifically chair bondage.  We will discuss stylistic and technical differences in western cowboy rope bondage vs Japanese rope bondage. \nThe workshop will conclude with practical hands-on practice. There will be step-by-step follow-along instruction through the chair tie pattern followed by instruction for the bandana gagging/blindfolding. \nPrerequisites: The hands-on practical section will NOT be suitable for individual self-tying. However\, individuals without a partner are still encouraged to participate in observations and conversations. \nWhat is needed for the hand-on practical section? \n\n\n30ft+ x3 hanks of rope \n\n\n25ft+ x7 hanks of rope \n\n\n12ft+ x1 hank of rope \n\n\n8 bandanas  (22in sq) \n\n\nSome loaner rope will be available to borrow if you do not have these supplies. \nDisclaimer: Presentation includes images depicting sexual violence and CNC/rape fantasy.

SUMMARY:Beginner Shibari
DESCRIPTION:Shibari is the Japanese-inspired practice of aesthetic rope bondage. In this foundational session\, students will learn fundamental ties and techniques to begin their rope journey. Though fundamental\, these techniques can be combined in uncountable ways to produce elaborate shapes and scenarios. Besides learning technical skills\, we will focus on rope bondage as a movement and acrobatic art\, with emphasis on flow\, aesthetics\, and partner connection. This class is appropriate for students that wish to learn shibari as a performing art\, or as a private practice. Attendees can attend solo or as a couple. \nHosted out of a circus school\, this class is ideal for folks that want to explore shibari in a non-kink environment.

SUMMARY:Techniques In Tying: Intermediate Series Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This 3-part series is designed for those who feel confident with single/double columns and are ready for more complexity. Classes will focus on functional rather than decorative patterns\, emphasizing the techniques needed for creating stable ties and understanding how components interact. Those tying will learn how to incorporate play and body manipulation to dive deeper into creating connected\, intentional scenes. Those being tied will learn assessment skills necessary to evaluate stamina and strength in a variety of positions and shapes. Upon completing this series\, students will be prepared for nuanced conversations on individual risk profiles and strategic thinking on pattern construction. \nIn order to benefit from this class\, those tying should be able to confidently use a non-collapsing single column and double column tie\, use simple frictions like munters and half-hitches\, and understand how and when to use forward versus reverse tension. Those being tied should be comfortable stating their rope style preferences and communicating their physical and emotional experiences while in rope. \nThese classes are crafted for partnered learning; attendees need to sign up in pairs. Tying pairs must commit to all classes in the series. Prerequisites\, gear requirements\, and expectations are outlined on the ticketing page. Class dates are 3/15\, 4/19\, and 5/17 from 11am to 2pm.
