SUMMARY:Techniques In Tying: Intermediate Series Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This 3-part series is designed for those who feel confident with single/double columns and are ready for more complexity. Classes will focus on functional rather than decorative patterns\, emphasizing the techniques needed for creating stable ties and understanding how components interact. Those tying will learn how to incorporate play and body manipulation to dive deeper into creating connected\, intentional scenes. Those being tied will learn assessment skills necessary to evaluate stamina and strength in a variety of positions and shapes. Upon completing this series\, students will be prepared for nuanced conversations on individual risk profiles and strategic thinking on pattern construction. \nIn order to benefit from this class\, those tying should be able to confidently use a non-collapsing single column and double column tie\, use simple frictions like munters and half-hitches\, and understand how and when to use forward versus reverse tension. Those being tied should be comfortable stating their rope style preferences and communicating their physical and emotional experiences while in rope. \nThese classes are crafted for partnered learning; attendees need to sign up in pairs. Tying pairs must commit to all classes in the series. Prerequisites\, gear requirements\, and expectations are outlined on the ticketing page. Class dates are 3/15\, 4/19\, and 5/17 from 11am to 2pm.

SUMMARY:Rope Enthusiasts Chillshare
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a rope bondage skill sharing event in an intentionally quiet space. Whether you’re a curious beginner or have some rope experience\, this event offers a low-stim environment to learn\, practice\, and connect with others. \nMasking Policy:\nMasking with a high quality respirator (kn95 or better) is required. In order to make this event more accessible to the members of our community who are extra cautious about COVID and other respiratory nasties\, we require high-quality masks. No cloth\, no paper/surgical masks. We provide a supply of free high quality masks for those who need one. If you are sick\, please stay home <3 \nWe ask that you keep your mask on as much as you can\, and that you put it on before entering the space. We have a supply of drinking valves and straws that can be used to drink while not removing your mask and folks who would be delighted to show you how to install and use them. Please step outside to eat if that is accessible to you. \nWhat to Expect: \nSkillsharing: Share your rope tips\, tricks\, and experiences in a supportive environment. All are invited to ask questions\, observe what people are doing\, give/request feedback\, show what you know or are in the midst of learning at any level. \nQuieter voices: Please default to speaking only as loudly as needed; hushed voices are great to keep the overall volume down \nStack: When having group conversations\, we recommend using a simplified “taking stack” method to help avoid speaking over and interrupting others. If you’re unfamiliar with this\, please see one of the event hosts! \nWhat to Bring:\n– A mask\, kn95 or better REQUIRED\n– Comfortable clothing suitable for movement\n– Rope (a limited amount of loaner rope may be available for use during the event)\n– A notebook or sketchbook for jotting down tips and insights\n– Ground cover if wanted\n– Ideas for things you’d like to learn or show to others \nDonations:\nThis event asks for a donation of $5. Please contribute what you can to help the Pan Eros Foundation continue to provide space for events like these. \nUnleash your inner bondage nerd\, and discover the joy of quietly mastering a new skill. We’re excited to share this harmonious blend of rope and mindfulness with you! \nHosts for this event are:\n– Soniaiaiai\n– Solo\n– DegradedByDesign\n– TheBoopBandit

SUMMARY:Predicament Rope Bondage
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will start with a 30 minute lecture on the historical context of Japanese eroticism and rope as a tool for nonconsensual torture in Japan’s Tokugawa period. Then we will analyze the 20th century development of semenawa or torturous rope as a common BDSM practice. \nWe will briefly analyze the methodology of predicament bondage looking through the theoretical framework of sustainable\, stress\, suffer\, and sweat. We will then look at various predicament positions and discuss creative approaches to “turn up the heat”. The technical ties we will cover will be the  ebi shibari / shrimp tie position. \nDisclaimer: Presentation includes images depicting violence\, sexual violence\, and nudity.

It’s always so much fun to facilitate with him\, but I’ll do my best to offer self-tie options as well. The topic is still TBD\, so let us know your ideas / requests / suggestions here: (link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSchkNb9QWtxm-oAY8e1YOMRTpA1YMum_Q4KmAvA9mDdrIYlGw/viewform?usp=dialog text: OlyRope Feedback Form) or put them in the Comments section of your ticket order. \n## Who\nThis gathering is for anyone 18+ interested in exploring rope and/or helping build a thoughtful\, welcoming rope community in Olympia. \nWe center queer and neurodivergent experiences and strive to offer a space where those folks feel especially supported. \nCis/het men are welcome as participants\, as long as the intention is learning\, connecting\, and practicing nonsexual rope. This is not a place to cruise or look for partners. \nSelf-tiers are warmly welcome — most demos will include self-tie options. \n*Rope is for every body.* \n## What\nWe’ll start with a short welcome circle and consent & safety reminders\, then move into some beginner-friendly demos and exercises\, while those with more experience are free to do their own thing\, or to help the newbies keep up. There’s plenty of time for open practice and casual peer-to-peer sharing. \nYou’ll have space to:\n• tie with a partner if you attend with one\, or if you find someone you’re mutually excited to practice with\n• tie solo as a self-tier\n• practice knots\, frictions\, flow\, or concepts\n• talk\, observe\, ask questions\, contribute your own knowledge or opinions\, or simply be present \nNo one will be pressured to tie with anyone. You get to choose your level of interaction. \nThis is a social and educational space\, not a play party:\n🚫 No nudity\n🚫 No sexual activity\n🚫 No explicit scenes \nFloorwork only (no suspension points). \n## What to Bring\n🪢 Rope & safety shears (I have a few extras for newbies to borrow\, if needed)\n🥤 Water bottle\n🥨 Snacks for yourself or to share — just no eating (or shoes) on the mats\n🧸 Any other aftercare needs (blanket\, stuffy\, pillow…whatever helps you feel comfortable and grounded) \n## Where\nThe venue is conveniently located across the street from the Olympia Transit Center (bus station). (link: https://www.sparrowstudiosolympia.com/renting-the-studio text: Accessibility info is available here). The exact address will be in your order confirmation email. \n## Contact\nQuestions? Email info@OlyRope.com or text 360-409-ROPE (7673) \nCome help shape this new rope community into something *you* want to belong to. \n## About Your Host\nI’m @ComplexiT on FetLife (T/they/she)\, a queer\, femme-presenting nonbinary rope nerd\, bottom-leaning switch\, and self-suspender. \nI discovered rope in October 2024 and immediately had my mind blown 🤯😍🪢 — I wanted to learn everything I could. Since then\, I’ve taken private and group lessons\, attended workshops and events in Seattle and the Bay Area with my long-distance partner @XTCatalyst (who co-facilitates the group with me when he’s in town)\, and supplemented with online study and independent practice. \nI’m building the @OlyRope community to create a space that’s safer\, kinder\, and more accessible for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent rope lovers in the South Sound. \nI facilitate in a collaborative\, peer-led style\, and I demo many techniques as self-ties so folks without partners have concrete\, empowering ways to engage with rope. My goal isn’t to be “the authority” on anything — it’s to help cultivate a space where it feels natural and comfortable for all of us to learn from each other. \n## I’ve adopted the (link: https://meerkatagenda.com/kems text: KEMS code of conduct) and have nothing to disclose.

SUMMARY:Speed Tying Social
DESCRIPTION:Tops\, bottoms\, and switches will get hands-on rope practice through bite-sized sessions with each other. There is no “dating” here\, but you will meet\, tie\, and be tied. People are encouraged to attend solo\, as this is an opportunity to mix and mingle. \nPlease arrive on time in order to fully participate in all activities:\nNoon: check-in & rules\n12:15-12:45pm: socializing & “speed meeting” rounds\n12:45-1pm: break\n1-3pm: speed tying rounds \nFolks tying: bring your favorite upper body\, lower body\, and decorative harnesses out to play. You will get to tie them on different body types and shapes\, practice creativity and adaptation\, receive feedback\, and test your rope handling skills. You’ll have eight minutes to tie and untie each round\, though this precise timing may vary. \nFolks being tied: experience rope\, practice negotiating\, and compare how different patterns feel on your body. You are encouraged to share preferences or physical limitations to see how different people tying adapt their structures. \nThis is an opportunity to explore what rope can offer. To fully participate in this class\, you need to be comfortable tying and being tied by different types of people. This is a learning and practicing environment. Please respect the goals of the event by not pressuring or asking people to play\, or solicit “rope rides”\, outside of this activity.

SUMMARY:Beginner Shibari
DESCRIPTION:Shibari is the Japanese-inspired practice of aesthetic rope bondage. In this foundational session\, students will learn fundamental ties and techniques to begin their rope journey. Though fundamental\, these techniques can be combined in uncountable ways to produce elaborate shapes and scenarios. Besides learning technical skills\, we will focus on rope bondage as a movement and acrobatic art\, with emphasis on flow\, aesthetics\, and partner connection. This class is appropriate for students that wish to learn shibari as a performing art\, or as a private practice. Attendees can attend solo or as a couple. \nHosted out of a circus school\, this class is ideal for folks that want to explore shibari in a non-kink environment.
