SUMMARY:Flying in Rope: a First Suspension Series
DESCRIPTION:This 3-part series is designed for tying pairs who have played with partial suspension and wish to experience full flight in a risk-aware environment. Tying pairs will explore multiple suspension positions\, put familiar harnesses and patterns under full load\, practice moving in and out of static poses\, and learn how to adapt ties to prolong “flying time”. Those tying will learn how to control and assess how load is distributed across multiple uplines\, predict when and where harnesses deform\, and solve basic challenges as they arise. Those being tied will learn how to communicate effectively while in suspension\, begin to calibrate to their endurance in a variety of ties and positions\, and identify early signs of nerve impingement or injury. \nIn order to benefit from this class\, those tying should be able to rig suspension uplines using both top and bottom locks-offs as well as have previously practiced a simple partial suspension under supervision. Those being tied should have previous experience in a partial suspension and possess some basic familiarity with sensations related to circulation loss and nerve/injury signals. \nThese classes are crafted for partnered learning; attendees need to sign up in pairs. All tying pairs must commit to all classes in the series. \nWe encourage those who have completed the Ascent in Rope curriculum to register. For those who have not attended this series\, please see the prerequisites listed below.

SUMMARY:Speed Tying Social
DESCRIPTION:Tops\, bottoms\, and switches will get hands-on rope practice through bite-sized sessions with each other. There is no “dating” here\, but you will meet\, tie\, and be tied. People are encouraged to attend solo\, as this is an opportunity to mix and mingle. \nPlease arrive on time in order to fully participate in all activities: \n3pm: check-in & rules\n3:15-3:45pm: socializing & “speed meeting” rounds\n3:45-4pm: break\n4-5:30pm: speed tying rounds\nFolks tying: bring your favorite upper body\, lower body\, and decorative harnesses out to play. You will get to tie them on different body types and shapes\, practice creativity and adaptation\, receive feedback\, and test your rope handling skills. You’ll have eight minutes to tie and untie each round\, though this precise timing may vary. \nFolks being tied: experience rope\, practice negotiating\, and compare how different patterns feel on your body. You are encouraged to share preferences or physical limitations to see how different people tying adapt their structures. \nThis is an opportunity to explore what rope can offer. To fully participate in this class\, you need to be comfortable tying and being tied by different types of people. This is a learning and practicing environment. Please respect the goals of the event by not pressuring or asking people to play\, or solicit “rope rides”\, outside of this activity.
